Participants: Fay Jones, Chris Gow, Lorraine and Geoff Ditchfield, Bill Uren, Elaine Smith, Rina de Leur, Fred van Berkel and Nicky van Berkel (Leader).
Hike statistics:
A Grade 1 beach walk covering 8.4 km. Required permission: none.

After dropping off a car at the Buffalo Bay parking lot, the end point, Fred and I met some of the other hikers at the parking lot outside the Brenton Haven hotel. After the starting photo, we set off along the beach in slightly overcast weather against a westerly wind. It was low tide and we made good time.

We met up with Geoff and Lorraine, who had decided to start a bit later from Buffalo Bay, so another group photo was taken.

After some footwear changes we started along the Buffalo Bay trail. The trail is in good condition and the going was easy.

The trail crosses patches of fynbos and Albany thicket before heading back to the beach.

We ended the hike with a beverage at the Buffelsbaai restaurant while watching surfers riding the small waves. Nobody in the group was keen to go for a swim, nor did anyone want to walk back to Brenton, so we bundled into our bakkie and headed back to the start.

A short meet, but I think all agreed it was a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday morning. Thank you to all who joined me on one of my local walks.
